Hat Quest is a hack created by Mr. Tenda. The official PK Hack website has to say this about Hat Quest:

"A mini-sequel to EarthBound, starring Mr. Saturn and Jeff. Short but sweet, Hat Quest is one of the most advanced hacks released to date. It's also the first finalized hack to make liberal use of map editing, advanced event-based changes, and a bevy of other recent discoveries. This game was made with classic puzzle adventure games in mind, so expect a lot of old-school LucasArts-style action."

[edit] Story

Hat Quest takes place after the story of EarthBound. The game begins with Ness, who is about to put his hat on to go outside, but suddenly the hat disappears!

The game cuts to Mr. Saturn in Saturn Valley. In a desperate attempt to get some kind of headgear (besides the bow), Mr. Saturn created a machine to materialize headgear from anywhere in the world. However, this machine backfires when Mr. Saturn accidently steals Ness's hat.

[edit] Gameplay

In Hat Quest, the player must solve many puzzles to advance in the plot. The gameplay does not consist of some other typical RPG elements such as leveling up or fighting, as there are almost no battles in the game.

[edit] Fun Facts

  • Hat Quest was actually made over the course of a year, being worked on by Mr. Tenda for periods at a time with no strict schedule.
  • The idea of Hat Quest may have come from BlueAntoid's The Cap Caper.
  • Hat Quest contains a few references to the novel Invisible Man.
