Nightcrawler's, English translator of Dual Orb 2, first rom hack. The game features text and graphics edits only. Gameplay and level structure remains identical to that of the original Super Mario Bros.
Quest for the Missing Hat features a storyline revolving around Mario's hat being stolen. He searches through each castle in an attempt to find his hat. Super mushrooms and 1-up mushrooms have been hacked to look like underwear and when Mario transforms into Super Mario or Fire Mario his overalls can no longer be seen and he is just wearing his underwear. Per the name of the game, Mario's sprite has been alterred so that he is no longer wearing a hat.
Quest for the Missing Hat is one of the earliest hacks known for Super Mario Bros and has some historical significance for that reason.
